Following their historic performance at Barcelona Rock Fest 2024, Deep Purple returns to the city on October 19, 2026 to deliver one of their most important concerts in the Catalan capital. The legendary English band will present a show packed with the hits that have defined a career filled with successes, captivating millions of fans worldwide. After nearly six decades on stage, Deep Purple continues to deliver their best performance yet.

Formed in 1968 in Hertford, England, Deep Purple experimented with various styles ranging from hard rock to psychedelic rock. Their destiny was defined during the so-called “Mark II” era in 1969, with Ian Gillan on vocals, Ritchie Blackmore on guitar, Jon Lord on keyboards, Roger Glover on bass, and Ian Paice on drums.

This lineup is considered a pioneer of hard rock and heavy metal, producing landmark albums such as Deep Purple In Rock (1970) and the acclaimed Machine Head (1972), which established their sound: fierce riffs, virtuosic solos, and iconic songs like the world-famous anthem “Smoke On The Water”. Their fusion of rock with classical music elements was revolutionary and left a lasting mark in rock history.

Over time, band members changed, bringing in legendary musicians like David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes, which allowed the band to explore styles beyond rock, including funk and soul, until the group temporarily disbanded. In 1984, the Mark II lineup reunited for the successful album Perfect Strangers, revitalizing their popularity. Despite Blackmore’s later departure, Deep Purple has remained active with guitarists like Steve Morse and, more recently, Simon McBride, and with Don Airey on keyboards following the passing of Jon Lord.

Today, the band continues recording and touring, ensuring the legacy of one of rock history’s most influential groups endures, inspiring bands like Jayler, who will join them in Barcelona. Formed in 2022 in the UK Midlands, the quartet has quickly gained recognition. Their music and aesthetic are heavily influenced by Deep Purple and other legends like Led Zeppelin, propelling them rapidly to the spotlight. Deep Purple and Jayler will create an unmissable night at Sant Jordi Club.
